This past weekend was crazy busy! A bachelorette party/bridal shower girls weekend in Soeul, Joe’s Squadron Farewell Party, packing, one last couples bible study meeting.
I’ll start at the beginning, the trip to Seoul.
12 girls came to Seoul on Friday, despite the rainy snowy slush that had accumulated on the ground all over the peninsula, to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Ashley to her beau, Brian.
A couple of us ventured into Itaewon for coffee early Friday afternoon. No inclement weather keeps us from our addiction to $5 coffees.
Kate, Sara, Me, Kat and Ashley in Itaewon
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Itaewon – nothing like a $5 Pecan Praline Latte!
Dinner at Sortino’s, an authentic Italian restaurant in Itaewon – the food was delicious. Unlike most Korean Italian restaurants, which serve only alfredo and tomato sauces atop overdone spaghetti, Sortino’s is an authentic Italian restaurant opened by an authentic Italian chef. The food is well worth the money and the wine list is quite extensive. A great place for a group or a quiet date.
Poor Ashley had to open all her bachelorette gifts in the middle of Sortino’s and hold up all her little nighties for all to see. Her cheeks were flushed and we were all giggling like schoolgirls but it was a blast.
After dinner we ventured down restaurant alley, a back alley in Itaewon full of cute little bars and restaurants. We decided on a place called Loco Loca for some margaritas and were pleasantly surprised by a huge lounge area and an extensive drink menu.
All the girls cuddled in the back lounge area. It was the perfect place for all of us to gab and laugh hysterically at each other’s stories.
One of the awesome lounge areas – we all said we wanted to build something like this in our own homes for entertaining. Doesn’t it look so inviting?
The waiter at Loco Loca was so nice and helpful. But this picture is hilarious because Megan asked for a bottle of water and the waiter brought her a glass bottle filled with water from their water cooler.
After we closed down Loco Loca at midnight we headed across the street to a lounge called Bricx. An equally humongous drink menu and even more laughter found us heading back to the hotel around 2:00 AM. Some chips and salsa in our PJs in the hotel room and we finally shut the lights off about 3:45 AM. Not enough sleep for the shopping spree at Chosun we had planned for the morning.
Lunch at the hotel after Chosun, we gave Ashley even more gifts before heading to Starbucks and then on home to Songtan. What a weekend! I haven’t had that much fun all year!
Congrats Ash – and good luck with your wedding in February. She and Brian will be getting married on Feb. 16th at West Point Military Academy on the Hudson River in New York. We wish them the best!
mel with the cute head tilt pose! looks like a great night and yes, i love the lounge area!!
