China Day 1 – Arrival to Beijing

Papi took us to Newark airport and everything went smooth through TSA Prechek.

We got some breakfast before getting on the plane at 12:00.  The flight was smooth, Loli was a trooper.

She and I only slept for about 20-30 min. at the tail end of the flight.  She was exhausted but still did so great walking all the way to customs without a single complaint.  We stood in line at customs for about 15 minutes and then right after getting our passports stamped she told me she didn’t feel well.

She proceeded to throw up all over her arm and shoe, my shirt and shoe and the floor.  We left a nice pile of puke at the desk as we headed to the bathroom to change clothes.  So glad I brought a change of clothes for everyone in our carry-on.  We retrieved our luggage and waited in the luggage customs area before heading out to find our guide.

Our guide, Candy, found us immediately and we hoped in a van with her.  It was rush-hour so it took us over an hour to get to the hotel and we sat in bumper to bumper traffic.  Lorelai got sick again but this time I was prepared with a bag.  Poor girl was so tired.  We got to the hotel, checked in to one of the most amazing hotels I’ve ever seen and got something to eat at the Club Lounge (thank you Marriott Gold Status).  We were all in bed by 7:30 PM, exhausted but happy to finally be in China.
